Remote Controlled Truck

I took these this past week, when I was on a “mini vacation” with my wife. The neighbors were “testing” their daughter’s new remote controlled truck and just happened to be out with my camera. This thing was unbelievably fast. 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds. And that’s not scaled 60mph, it truly hits 60mph! It was good practice for me to try tracking such a fast moving object.

Heimlich Squirrel

Several years ago, I was sitting in the backyard, with my camera, waiting to capture the perfect shot of a hummingbird hovering near my feeder. Behind me, I heard some trashing around and what sounded like two squirrels, “playing” on one of our large oak trees. I turned to look and saw a squirrel, rolling around on the ground, eyes bulging out, making what I know to be the universal sign for “I’m choking!”. You know the one, both hands clutching at your throat, eyes wide, all the while your face is turning blue from the lack of oxygen. Not that I could see the squirrel’s face turning blue because of, you know, his fur. Anyway, another squirrel leapt from the oak tree, grabbed the choking squirrel around the waist and pulled it up to a fork in the oak trees trunk. I assume this was for a stable platform, although the ground should have sufficed, in my opinion. But then again, I’m not a squirrel. Anyway, after they get to the fork in the tree, the second squirrel began to perform what looked like abdominal thrusts on the first squirrel. I watched in amazement. I could scarcely believe what I was seeing. I was watching a squirrel, perform the Heimlich Maneuver, to save another squirrels life! I watched in shock and awe, when I finally remembered that I had my camera! I whipped it to my face, quickly focused and took, what I am pretty sure is, the only photograph that shows a squirrel performing the Heimlich Maneuver, to save another squirrels life. And here it is:

You’re welcome.

Still trying to figure out this site.

As I am still a technoidiot, I am slowly learning how to post to the “blog” and post my photos. I haven’t quite figured out what buttons I need to push or what sacrifices to the webpage/blog gods I have to give. I’m thinking it’s going to require much Scotch induced contemplation. But, that’s got to wait until I have a day off. Based on my level of frustration trying to get the hang of this, copious amounts of Scotch may be required before I figure this out. Stay tuned…
